Fraser Valley Down Syndrome Society annual walk aims to spread awareness about condition, raise funds

Despite the rain, the Fraser Valley Down Syndrome Society (FVDSS) had a successful Walk for Down Syndrome Awareness on Saturday (April 27) in Abbotsford.

The annual gathering at Mill Lake Park raises awareness about people with down syndrome, and spreads the message that individuals with the condition possess a wide range of skills and abilities that benefit the community.

There were also games, activities, face painting and a food truck.

As of May 2 the society has raised just over $16,000 of their $40,000 goal. The funds are to help the FVDSS provide resources and programs to support the development of people with down syndrome in the Fraser Valley.

The FVDSS is a volunteer and parent-run local group that supports families from Langley to Hope.
