A trio of Yale Secondary senior girls basketball players have signed with post-secondary teams.

A trio of Yale Secondary senior girls basketball players will be continuing their basketball journey’s at the next level.

Lions graduating players Ella Bohn, Hannah Singh and Ava Heppner all earned basketball scholarships and will compete at the post-secondary level in the fall.

The threesome were a big part in the Lions fourth-place finish at the 4A provincial championships, which wrapped up in March.

Bohn, a 5-11 forward, was announced as signing with the UFV Cascades on May 1.

“Ella has been a dynamic offensive player who can really shoot the ball, and on the defensive end of the floor her length allows her to influence shots.” UFV head coach Al Tuchscherer stated. “We think there is a huge upside to her game, and we are really excited to start working with her.”

Bohn played club with the Port Coquitlam-based Excel Basketball.

Singh, a 5-9 guard, signed with the Nanaimo-based VIU Mariners on April 18.

“Hannah can hoop and has a good feel for the game,” stated Mariners head coach Tony Bryce. “We love the fact the Hannah could potentially play all three guard spots while bringing some size, compete, and toughness to our perimeter. We are very happy and excited for Hannah to make the move to the Island to join the Mariner family.”

Singh played club with BC United and Athelite Basketball Academy.

Heppner, a 5-8 guard, signed with the UBCO Heat on Feb. 28.

She also played club with Excel Basketball and earned two tournament most valuable player award this past season, including the Abbotsford Police City Basketball Tournament.

Bohn and Heppner will square off against each other in Canada West action, while Singh will compete in the Pacwest and get the chance to play in Abbotsford against the Columbia Bible College Bearcats.
