Harrison Sunflower Festival, Pumpkin Festival on hiatus

Fall celebrations put on hold to make farm improvements

The Harrison Sunflower Festival and Harrison Pumpkin Festival will not be held this year.

Festival founder Kate Onos-Gilbert announced on Wednesday morning that the festival that would have been held in August and September this year will not be coming this fall.

The Onos family took over their Agassiz-area farm last year and plan to spend the coming months making improvements and infrastructure to prepare for "more spectacular festivals" going forward, according to a statement from the family.

The 2025 Harrison Tulip Festival is set to feature an expanded Secret Garden area near the farm store to create a whole new set of photo opportunities. The family said they are also developing even more agritourism experiences for their visitors in the coming months.

The inaugural Harrison Tulip Festival was held earlier this spring, carrying on the legacy of the Chilliwack Tulip Festival and Tulips of the Valley. The family estimates nearly 40,000 guests came to the farm over the course of the four weeks of the festival in April and May. This year's tulip festival marked the 18th annual event from the Onos family.

The sunflower festival last year featured 45 varieties over 20 acres of land. The Harrison Pumpkin Festival launched last year, featuring an all-you-can-carry pumpkin patch and 22 varieties of pumpkins, the largest of which tipped the scales at more than 100 pounds.
