PHOTOS: Two Abbotsford teams advance to the finals on day 3 of rugby provincials

Robert Bateman 2A boys will play in tier one championship, Yale girls will play in 3A championship

Day three of the BC School Sports Rugby Provincials on Thursday (May 30) saw continued success on the pitch for Abbotsford schools.

Joining the Robert Bateman Secondary School junior boys in the championship game is the Bateman 2A tier one senior boys. They beat Earl Marriot Secondary School in the semifinals 10-5. The Timberwolves will play Collingwood at 1 p.m. on Saturday (June 1).

Yale Secondary School girls advanced to the 3A championship with a 39-3 win over Cowichan. They play Gleneagle for the banner at 3 p.m. on Saturday (June 1).

Robert Bateman 2A girls were defeated by D.W. Poppy Secondary School 45-12 in the semifinal matchup. They will now play for third place against Mark Isfeld at 11 a.m. on Saturday (June 1).

W.J. Mouat Secondary School girls beat Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary School 37-5 for the right to play for fifth in the province. They play Carson Graham at 11 a.m. on Saturday (June 1).

The tournament features schools from across B.C. in rugby sevens and 15s. It runs until Saturday (June 1) at Abbotsford Exhibition Park (32470 Haida Dr.).
